Where is 3-Mile Lake and how can I rent a cabin?

From Creston go approximately 9 miles east on Hwy 34 to P53 (Creamery Road). Travel three miles north, turn left and drive west one half of a mile and finally turn left again into the campsite. There are signs showing where the lake and boating ramp are. Eight all-weather cabins are also available year-a-round. The cabins can be rented through Union County Conservation at 641-782-1755.
 

When are Balloon Days and the other Festivals in Creston?

Balloon Days is always the 3rd Weekend in September (September 19, 20, & 21,  2008). A complete listing of events is available at the Chamber Office and the Chamber website.

The 10,000 Crestonians 4th of July Celebration, held during the July 4th Holiday, is another annual event that takes place downtown and at McKinley Park from June 30 through July 4, 2008.

The Lighted Christmas Parade is always the first Thursday after Thanksgiving (December 4, 2008). "There's No Place Like Creston for the Holidays" including the Comfort & Joy Quilt Show and Block Walk, Festival of Trees, Visits by Santa and Holiday Home Tour runs from December 4 through December 7, 2008.


What is the population in Creston?

The 2000 census has the Creston population at 7,597. The Union County population after the 2000 Census was 12,309.
 

Where can I buy a hunting and/or fishing license in Creston?

You can buy a hunting and/or fishing license at the Union County Recorder's Office (Courthouse, 300 N. Pine St.), Wal-Mart (Hwy 34 West) and HyVee (600 Sheldon Ave.).  Deer and turkey permits are only sold through the Union County Recorders Office.
 

When is the Frank Phillips Visitors Center open?

The Frank Phillips Visitor's Center is located on Hwy 34 West and is staffed by volunteers. The facility is open May 12 through October 18. Contact Creston/Union County Tourism at 641-782-7022 for more information.
